Google provides a suite of powerful tools to help accomplish common tasks. We've gathered several popular functions and listed them below with examples. For a complete index, please visit Google's Search Features page.

Calculator/Numeric Converter
Google will execute all basic and many advanced mathematic calculations. (Ex. "3*4+7" will return 19.) The utility will convert units of numeric quantities as well. (Ex. 3 miles in kilometers will return 4.828032 kilometers.)

Definitions
To define an English word, simply enter "define", a space, and the word. For several results, enter "define:" followed by the word without a space.

Local Search
To find a store or business located in a specific neighborhood, enter a topic followed by the town and state or zip code. (Ex. "coffee Beverly MA" or "coffee 01915" returns a list of coffee shops, complete with addresses, phone numbers, and distances from downtown Beverly. Clicking on a result yields a map of the location and the option to get driving directions.

Phonebook
It's easy to search both publicly listed residential and business phone numbers and addresses. To find a company, enter the comapny's name followed by city and state or zip code. For residential queries, enter firstname, lastname, city/zip code/area code or lastname, city/state/zip code. To perform a reverse search, enter the phone number with area code.

Stock Quotes
Enter one or more NYSE, NASDAQ, AMEX or mutual fund ticker symbols for stock details. You may also enter the name of a publicly traded corporation for its stock information. (Ex. "AAPL")

Maps
For a street map, enter a US postal address, complete wth city and state or zip. (Ex. "47 L.P. Henderson Rd. Beverly, MA 01915")

Travel
To check the weather and traffic conditions at major airports, enter the airport's 3-letter FAA code followed by the word "airport." (Ex. "BOS airport") For the status of a particular flight, type the airline's name followed by the flight number. (Ex. "Qantas 11")

Specialized number searches
Google allows you to search by several types of numeric strings. To track a FedEx, UPS, or USPS package, simply enter the tracking number. VIN and FAA aircraft registration numbers can be entered for vehicle information.
